- Provide support for individual pupils, within group or individually, inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in activities
- Assist in implementation of individual education programmes and contribute to monitoring progress and attainment
- Support pupils with additional support needs (academic, physical, emotional, behavioural) and help develop social and communication skills
- Prepare necessary resources to assist identified student to access or differentiate the curriculum
- Promote independence by teaching clear and meaningful strategies to the student
- Attend and deliver intervention for SaLT / OT / ABA therapy to generalise and consolidate target skills

Job Description
- Provide early intervention to promote educational and social development of identified pupil/s under direction of Head of Inclusion and Class Teacher.
Main Duties
- Provide support for individual pupils, within group or individually, inside and outside classroom.
- Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
- Assist in implementation of individual education programmes and monitor progress.
- Support pupils with additional support needs (academic, physical, emotional, behavioural).
- Assist teachers with maintaining pupil records.
- Prepare resources to support learning.
- Promote independence by teaching strategies.
- Support aims of school, comply with health and safety and code of conduct.
- Set good example in dress, punctuality, attendance.
- Attend training sessions and meetings.
- Work with other professionals (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.).
- Build close working relationship with teachers.
Specific Duties
- Adhere to guidelines of confidentiality.
- Give individual instruction as prescribed by teacher.
- Demonstrate various instructional activities.
- Monitor work assigned by teacher.
- Keep individual pupil and peers on task.
- Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils.
- Prepare materials for individual as needed.
- Supervise individual pupil/s in classroom, specialist lessons, and other locations.
- Participate in development of behaviour policy.
- Attend and deliver intervention for SaLT / OT / ABA therapy.
- Attend ECA/trips and visits.
- Experienced IA may mentor new IA.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: SEN qualification – Diploma.
- Minimum Experience: 2 years SEN experience.
