HVAC Technician

Purpose and Scope

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist with or perform maintenance of high- and low-pressure steam heating systems as instructed.
• Assist with or perform HVACR installation, servicing, and repair, including checking belts and changing filters.
• Mount compressor and condenser units on associated auxiliary equipment and components.
• Maintain and inspect chillers, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, package units, refrigerants, pump houses, and related components.
• Provide preventive maintenance and repair for HVAC equipment installed in facilities including tension fabric shelters.

Refrigerant Management

• Monitor and record refrigerant use, storage, and disposal under the base refrigerant management program.
• Dispose of refrigerant according to the Clean Air Act, OEBGD, CENTCOM, and host-nation environmental regulations.
• Turn in spent or expired refrigerant to the designated hazardous-waste accumulation point manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of job-related experience are required.
• The posting requires five years of verified HVAC experience or five years of prior military HVAC service, with an alternative USAF five-level qualification pathway.
• Required credentials include an applicable HVAC certificate, refrigerant certification, copper brazing qualification, forklift certification, and skid-steer loader operator training as specified in the posting.
• Must be fully qualified to work on assigned USAF systems or hold a prior USAF five-level equivalent certification with at least three years of experience.
• Must maintain a valid state driver's license and qualify to operate government general-purpose vehicles.
• Must obtain and maintain facility credentials or authorization; U.S. citizenship is required for those credentials at this work location.

Standards and Compliance

• Must maintain and inspect heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in accordance with ANSI/ASHRAE standards.
• Must follow applicable operational, safety, quality, environmental, and customer-contract procedures.
