Job Description

The Health and Safety Advisor works from the Hamilton, Ontario site and oversees workplace accident prevention and occupational health and safety activities for sites within scope.

What You're Responsible For

  • Support the development of the health and safety culture with managers and employees.
  • Advise managers on health and safety initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools.
  • Inspect workplaces and work practices for compliance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Conduct occupational risk analyses and propose preventive measures.
  • Investigate work-related accidents and audit preventive measures.
  • Work with regulators and third parties during inspections and investigations.
  • Plan and deliver training and monitor mandatory training completion.
  • Track health and safety metrics and support onboarding, program rollouts, and Joint Health and Safety Committee activities.
  • Travel minimally to support vacations and the rollout of new sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • College or university certificate in health and safety or a related course.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, planning, organization, and adaptation skills.
  • Experience with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize under pressure, and maintain discretion and diplomacy.
  • Valid G driver's licence.
