About the Job

The Head Waiter/ess is based in the Breakfast Restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai.

The role runs a restaurant section, serves food and beverages in a timely manner, and aims to delight and satisfy every guest.

The Head Waiter/ess reports to the Breakfast Supervisor.

Head Waiter/ess Duties

  • Manage a designated restaurant station and deliver efficient, friendly, and attentive service from guest arrival to departure.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of food and beverage offerings, communicate them confidently, and promote products through upselling.
  • Complete mise en place, cleaning, stocking, and side duties while maintaining equipment, utensils, and service areas to hotel standards.
  • Process orders, billing, cashiering activities, gift cards, and other payment methods using the POS system.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, managers, kitchen teams, and colleagues while communicating guest preferences, allergies, and special requests.
  • Create memorable guest experiences through proactive service, teamwork, attention to guest needs, and adherence to service standards.

Expectations

  • High school education is preferred.
  • A degree or diploma in Hospitality, Hotel, or Business Management is advantageous.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Senior Waiter or Chef de Rang is required, preferably in a luxury hotel or high-volume restaurant.
  • Strong ability to understand guest needs and consistently deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, service procedures, POS systems, cashiering, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work long hours while maintaining operational excellence and service quality.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required.
  • Arabic language skills and basic MS Office proficiency are advantageous.
