About the Role

Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on a broad spectrum of topics including corporate governance, M&A, litigation, and regulatory matters.
- Work with external legal counsel as required and prepare legal reports.
- Support the Group General Counsel with preparing and managing the Legal budget.
- Manage special legal and regulatory projects and collaborate with other lawyers.
- Stay abreast of new laws and regulations and provide updates to senior businesspersons.
- Develop talent within the team by providing guidance and coaching.
- Act as line manager to a Paralegal and a Legal Associate.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with significant post qualification experience in banking or financial services legal roles
- Experience in corporate governance, M&A, litigation, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to manage a team and provide strategic legal advice to senior management

Core Responsibilities
- Provides legal advice in the context of this role.
- Works with external legal counsel as required.
- Prepares and issues various legal reports in a timely manner.
- Supports the Group General Counsel with preparing and managing the Legal budget.
- Manages special legal and regulatory projects and collaborates with other lawyers in FAB Group Legal.
- Stays abreast of new laws and regulations through continuous legal education.
- Provides updates to the FAB Group’s senior businesspersons on new legislation and regulatory developments.
- Works closely and develops a positive professional relationship with the other members of the legal function.
- Liaises with external law firms and relevant authorities to ensure effective resolution of legal matters.
- Functions as a subject matter expert and provides input on learning and development initiatives.
- Ensures that all requisite reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
- Defines goals and key performance indicators for direct reports and ensures effective implementation of performance management.
