Technical And Design & Engineering Department Head

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Technical, Design, and Engineering Department across multiple building construction projects.
• Oversee design management, engineering reviews, technical compliance, and coordination with consultants, clients, and project teams.
• Drive technical excellence and ensure all engineering deliverables align with project specifications, timelines, quality standards, and local authority regulations.
• Provide strategic technical direction during tendering, pre-construction, execution, and project close-out stages.
• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, value engineering proposals, and technical submissions.
• Coordinate closely with Construction, Planning, Commercial, Procurement, QA/QC, and BIM teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Lead resolution of major engineering, constructability, and site technical challenges.
• Develop and implement engineering standards, procedures, best practices, and technical governance frameworks across projects.
• Support business growth through technical input for bids, client presentations, and major project pursuits.
• Manage and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and BIM functions.
• Ensure compliance with international standards, safety regulations, and authority requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline. A master’s Degree is preferred.
• 18+ years of experience within leading construction contracting companies.
• Proven experience handling building construction projects such as high-rise towers, commercial, residential, hospitality, mixed-use, or large-scale developments.
• Strong background in technical management, engineering coordination, and design management within contracting companies.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary engineering teams at a senior management/director level.
• Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, engineering standards, authority approvals, and project delivery processes.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
• GCC/Middle East experience is highly preferred.
