Role overview

Aldar Academies is seeking a Head of English (Primary) for Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi, starting in January 2027.

Mamoura British Academy follows the British curriculum and has Lower, Middle, and Senior School divisions.

The role supports high-quality learning, school improvement, and the development of a sustainable and innovative learning community.

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor degree in Education or a related subject with PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification is required.
  • At least three years of teaching experience in the English National Curriculum is required.
  • Leadership experience is desirable.
  • Experience working in more than one international school is desirable.

  • Demonstrated success teaching across the primary age and ability range.
  • Passion for education and belief in the potential of every student.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate with all levels of the school community.

Leadership responsibilities

  • Contribute to the whole-school vision and strategic direction.
  • Lead team and planning meetings.
  • Line-manage teachers and teaching assistants against UAE Professional Teacher Standards.
  • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and quality assurance processes.
  • Participate in the school's bespoke Middle Leader training programme.

Teaching and learning

  • Teach all areas of the Primary English National Curriculum.
  • Organise classrooms, learning resources, and displays to support a positive learning environment.
  • Plan, prepare, and present lessons for the full range of pupil abilities.
  • Evidence pupil work in line with the school's marking and feedback policy.
  • Share best practice and participate in CPD and teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Use technology through innovative and creative lesson delivery.

Assessment and pupil progress

  • Take responsibility for the attainment and progress of a class of children.
  • Assess and record pupil development using Learning Ladders.
  • Use assessment data to guide further planning and interventions.
  • Provide regular progress feedback to parents and carers.
  • Plan, prepare, and contribute to termly pupil progress meetings.

Behaviour and safeguarding

  • Follow the school's behaviour management policy and promote TRACK Values.
  • Maintain positive relationships with pupils and parents and manage unwanted behaviour through school procedures.
  • Model the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour expected of pupils.
  • Complete playground and other duties in a punctual, interactive, and proactive manner.
  • Follow up and log behaviour and safeguarding concerns accurately in CPOMS.
