Role Overview

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in a related subject with PGCE or an equivalent teacher qualification is required.
• A master’s degree in Arabic Language or education is preferred but not necessary.
• Five years of teaching experience are required, while leadership experience is desirable.

Strategic Direction and Development

• Contribute to the whole-school vision and strategic direction and attend or present at Executive Leadership Team meetings when invited.
• Analyse relevant school data to inform policies and faculty or school self-evaluation writing.
• Develop Arabic department policies, practices, and short-, medium-, and long-term development plans.
• Develop and review schemes of work for Years 5 to 13, including provision for SEN, Gifted and Talented, and EAL students.
• Promote and develop the identity of Arabic First and Second Language.

Learning and Teaching

• Create and lead a departmental vision that promotes innovative learning experiences and high-quality outcomes.
• Ensure comprehensive curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all Arabic students, including those with special educational needs.
• Set clear expectations for staff regarding achievement standards and Arabic teaching quality.
• Evaluate teaching and learning quality to identify effective practices and improvement areas.
• Promote UAE culture across the curriculum and school.
• Support Arabic department contributions to extracurricular activities, revision, booster schemes, and wider initiatives.

Leading and Managing Staff

• Manage the Arabic First and Second Language team through effective performance management in accordance with school policies.
• Establish constructive working relationships that emphasize collaboration, support, and accountability.
• Conduct regular faculty meetings focused on improving standards and student achievement.
