Role Overview
Own and manage a dry-bulk freight desk covering vessel tonnage from Handysize to Capesize.
Manage commercial, operational, risk, supply chain, compliance, and governance activities for the freight function.
Freight Desk and Commercial Management
- Charter vessel tonnage through voyage charters, time charters, and Contracts of Affreightment.
- Maintain P&L accountability and drive margin generation, route arbitrage, and landed-cost optimization across physical trade flows.
- Manage freight and fuel exposure using FFAs, bunker hedging, and mark-to-market controls within approved limits.
Supply Chain and Relationships
- Partner with procurement to design, tender, and structure multimodal supply chain networks from mine-site and loading ports to global destination ports.
- Build relationships with shipowners, disponent owners, shipbrokers, port operators, and third-party logistics providers.
- Structure logistics service agreements, set operational SLAs and KPIs, and lead vendor qualification and evaluation.
Post-Fixture Operations
- Oversee vessel nominations, laytime and demurrage or despatch calculations, statements of facts review, and commercial claims resolution.
