Financial Controller

Job Purpose

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
• ACCA, CPA, CMA, or an equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
• At least 10 years of overall Finance and Accounting experience is required.
• At least five years of professional experience in Qatar is required.
• At least five years of experience in a five-star luxury hotel environment is required.
• Strong hotel finance, hospitality operations, and USALI experience is required.
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English is required.

Professional Capabilities

• Experience with hotel financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial analysis, P&L management, cost control, and profitability.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, and month-end closing.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hotel financial systems.
• Leadership, analytical, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making, and team-development capabilities.

Financial Management and Operations

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the hotel Finance and Accounting Department.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, treasury, and cost-control functions.
• Ensure accurate transactions, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closings, and effective financial procedures.

Budgeting and Reporting

• Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, and financial business plans in accordance with USALI and company requirements.
• Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, analyze variances, and provide recommendations.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses.

Cash Flow and Profitability

• Manage cash flow, working capital, banking, treasury activities, cash positions, and bank reconciliations.
• Monitor departmental profitability and operating costs and identify cost-optimization opportunities.
• Analyze revenue and cost trends and support departments in achieving budgeted objectives.

Controls and Audit

• Maintain internal financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies, approval processes, statutory requirements, and accounting standards.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, maintain records, respond to audit requirements, and follow up on findings.
• Safeguard hotel assets through appropriate financial controls and monitoring.

Management and People Support

• Provide financial information and recommendations to the General Manager and senior management.
• Work with department heads to strengthen financial awareness, accountability, and business planning.
• Lead, coach, and develop Finance team members and promote effective collaboration.
