Overview
Andersen in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an Excise Tax Manager to provide technical advice on UAE Excise Tax legislation, manage FTA audits, and ensure compliance with procedural requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice on UAE Excise Tax legislation, regulations, and FTA guidance, including complex or contentious matters.
- Lead and manage FTA Excise Tax audits and inspections, including responses to information requests, technical discussions, and audit defense strategies.
- Review FTA assessments, penalties, and decisions relating to Excise Tax, identifying appropriate technical and procedural considerations.
- Advise on Excise Tax registration and compliance obligations.
- Advise on classification of excise goods, excise prices, designated zones, warehousing, imports, and production.
- Prepare and review technical submissions, position papers, and FTA correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with procedural requirements, statutory deadlines, and record-keeping obligations.
- Assess Excise Tax exposures and develop appropriate risk mitigation and remediation strategies.
- Support stakeholders in implementing effective Excise Tax processes and controls.
- Monitor UAE Excise Tax legislation and FTA practices and assess their impact on the business.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, the FTA, and external advisers on Excise Tax matters.
- Maintain effective reporting over the Excise Tax portfolio, including exposures, status, and key deadlines.
