Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice on UAE Excise Tax legislation, regulations, and FTA guidance.
- Lead FTA Excise Tax audits and inspections, including information requests, technical discussions, and audit defence.
- Review FTA assessments, penalties, and decisions relating to Excise Tax.
- Advise on registration, classification, pricing, designated zones, warehousing, imports, and production.
- Prepare technical submissions, position papers, and FTA correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with procedural requirements, statutory deadlines, and record keeping.
- Assess tax exposures and develop risk mitigation and remediation strategies.
- Support effective Excise Tax processes and controls.
- Monitor legislation and FTA practices and report on portfolio exposures, status, and deadlines.
Experience and Competencies
- Significant experience and technical knowledge of UAE Excise Tax and the UAE Tax Procedures framework.
- Experience managing FTA Excise Tax audits, assessments, penalties, and complex technical matters.
- Hands-on experience with Excise Tax registration, classification, pricing, designated zones, and compliance.
- Strong drafting, analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage complex, high-value, and time-sensitive Excise Tax matters.
- Professional qualification or relevant background in tax, accounting, or law is preferred.
