HPE's Aruba business is hiring an Embedded Software Engineering Manager for next-generation network access solutions.
The role designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software for enhancements and new products, including operating systems, routers, networks, and related tools.
The manager leads a development team of approximately 10 to 15 people and owns results for major programs.
Workplace
- The role is hybrid and requires working an average of two days per week from an HPE office.
Responsibilities
- Lead a development team of approximately 10 to 15 people.
- Define and lead execution of the AOS-CX Switch OS roadmap with cross-functional teams.
- Cover roadmap areas including tools, OS infrastructure, platform software, data-path forwarding, network and security protocols, application software, user interfaces, and cloud management.
- Identify project risks and create plans to mitigate or execute projects and programs on time.
- Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, costs, and resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Ensure goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets meet program and organizational roadmaps.
- Communicate status and escalate issues to managers, program managers, and development partners.
- Hire, coach, evaluate, and support the career development of team members.
Required Qualifications
- BE, BTech, or MTech qualification.
- At least 10 years of total experience and 3 years of people-management experience.
- Prior development experience in networking, embedded systems, C or C++, and Python scripting.
- Hands-on C or C++ development experience for Embedded Linux or RTOS.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, Ethernet chipsets, MAC/PHY, and related drivers.
- Experience planning, scheduling, and managing risks for projects or programs.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desired Skills
- Understanding of processor architectures such as ARM is desired.
- Experience with agile development methods such as SAFe, Scrum, or Scrum of Scrums is desired.
- Experience with U-Boot, board bring-up, diagnostics, JTAG tools, and GDB-based low-level debugging is desired.
