Coating Inspectors will need to be knowledgeable in client’s Coating and Painting Specifications (for example, SP-2888 coating application), Fusion-bonded epoxy (“FBE”) spray coating application, and epoxy paint application as outlined in the Coating and Painting Specification.

The Coating Inspector will need to review client’s Coating and Painting Specification and ensure the Third-Party Contractor performs these tasks in compliance.

The Coating Inspector will need to work with the client and its Third-Party Contractors to complete the necessary work.

The Coating Inspector will be expected to have the following equipment and qualifications:

• Device with the ability for taking and providing daily pictures as documentation of inspected activities.
• Daily Logbook for taking daily notes and noting any issues.
• Coating Inspector will be required to always have in their possession client provided Coating and Painting Specifications.
• Coating Inspectors will be required to have a NACE-certified Coating Inspector Level I or one of the following equals: Formal education in corrosion control from the NACE International (NACE) with an active minimum certification level equivalent to the following: NACE Corrosion Technologist or NACE Cathodic Protection Technician. Formal education in corrosion control from Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course with evidence of successfully passing the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Courses. Three or more years of experience in coating application work—with emphasis on buried coatings.
• Formal education in corrosion control from the NACE International (NACE) with an active minimum certification level equivalent to the following: NACE Corrosion Technologist or NACE Cathodic Protection Technician.
• Formal education in corrosion control from Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course with evidence of successfully passing the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Courses.
• Three or more years of experience in coating application work—with emphasis on buried coatings.
• Equipment needs for Coating Inspectors: Dew Point, Ambient, and Surface Temperature Meter Humidity measurement meter Thickness Gauge to measure wet film thickness and dry film thickness (0—40 mils)

• Blasting profile strips/gauge to measure pipe surface roughness
• Ability to stand and walk on flat and/or uneven terrain for extended periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements such as bending, crouching, and kneeling.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle changing priorities.
• Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment
• Tolerance to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, noise, dust, rain, snow ).
• Ability to safely operate inspection tools, laptops, and mobile devices.
• This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for work-related travel. A valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required.
