Summary

  • Provide support on development management matters and coordinate with technical departments and external agencies.
  • Define and implement best in class development management standards, processes and procedures.
  • Lead and direct commercial functions of the Projects Development Department.

Job Role

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Lead all commercial aspects of development projects from feasibility to closeout.
  • Ensure effective cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial control.
  • Monitor project profitability, cost performance, cash flow, and commercial compliance.
  • Participate in project feasibility studies, financial modelling, and investment evaluations.
  • Lead contract negotiations, payments terms, and variations.
  • Review and approve commercial terms, agreements, variations, claims, and contractual documentation.
  • Establish project cost control systems and commercial reporting frameworks.
  • Identify commercial, contractual, and financial risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Manage claims, disputes, variations, extensions of time, and contractual negotiations.
  • Lead high level commercial negotiations and present reports to executive management.
  • Establish performance objectives, conduct team evaluations, and promote continuous improvement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil, Architecture, Project Management, Finance, Commercial Management, or Business Administration.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Construction Law, Commercial Management, or Project Management (preferred).

Professional Certifications Required

  • MRICS – Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • CCM – Certified Commercial Manager
  • CPCM – Certified Professional Contracts Manager
  • CIArb – Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Optional)

Risk / Claims / Contract Management Certifications Required

  • FIDIC Contract Management Certification
  • Construction Claims / Delay Analysis Certification (Preference)

Experience Required

  • Minimum 12 – 18 years of relevant experience in commercial, contracts, project development, or construction management.
  • Minimum 5 – 8 years in a senior management/director role.
  • Strong experience in real estate development, construction projects, or mixed use developments.
  • Extensive knowledge of FIDIC contracts, cost control, budgeting, and project commercial management.
