Job Purpose
The Design Engineer will plan, design, and develop water supply and sewerage infrastructure projects.
The role covers transmission systems, distribution networks, pumping stations, water treatment plants, sewer networks, sewage treatment plants, and associated civil, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
The role ensures compliance with applicable standards, technical specifications, environmental regulations, and project requirements.
Engineering Design
- Prepare engineering designs for water supply and sewerage systems.
- Design water transmission mains, distribution networks, sewer networks, pumping stations, reservoirs, WTPs, and STPs.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and network modeling using WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, layouts, profiles, and schematics.
- Prepare design reports, calculations, BOQs, and technical specifications.
Technical Skills
- Perform hydraulic design of water supply and sewerage networks.
- Apply water treatment and wastewater treatment process knowledge.
- Prepare engineering drawings and design documentation.
- Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, EPANET, GIS applications, MS Excel, and project management tools.
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of the CPHEEO Manual on Water Supply and Sewerage.
- Knowledge of Indian Standards, relevant design guidelines, and environmental and pollution control regulations.
- Knowledge of construction practices for pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants.
- Knowledge of contract management and tendering procedures.
Educational Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A diploma with higher experience may be considered.
Experience
- Typically 3–10 years of experience in water supply and sewerage infrastructure projects is required.
- Experience in municipal infrastructure, urban development, AMRUT, Jal Jeevan Mission, Smart City, or sewerage projects is desirable.
