Objective and Purpose
Prepare, review, and execute primary engineering activities for substation projects under the direction of the Design Lead.
Design substation layouts, support draftsmen with drawing inputs, and facilitate BIM 3D model development for substations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review substation drawings developed by draftsmen and coordinate with site execution and cluster teams on equipment design clarifications.
- Coordinate with civil and structural, MEP, and instrumentation disciplines to obtain concurrence on design specifications.
- Ensure compliance with specifications and quality systems for 2D and 3D drawings and project documentation.
- Review vendor offers and documents, perform pre-tender engineering, estimate bills of materials, and review offers.
- Prepare sizing calculations for busbars, UPS, DG, LT transformers, and earthing conductors, plus short-circuit force and sag-tension calculations.
- Review bills of material and compare them with tender quantities.
Qualifications
- B.E. or B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- 4–7 years of experience in primary engineering design for substations or power distribution projects.
Required Technical Understanding
- Primary engineering knowledge should include SLD preparation, layout engineering, earthing, cable routing, lighting, lightning protection, and cable tray routing.
- Knowledge of national and international codes and standards is required.
- The role requires understanding of civil and structural, mechanical, and instrumentation design aspects related to electrical equipment.
