Main Purpose of the Position
To provide expert engineering leadership and support for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Job Objectives
Engineering Evaluation, Troubleshooting & Technical Support: To provide engineering support for troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, calibration, and technical direction of Controls systems and equipment.
Commissioning & Operational Support: To support commissioning activities and ensure quality assurance, documentation, and compliance during plant startup and operation.
Standards Development & Best Practices: To develop and maintain standards, procedures, and best practices for Controls systems (Honeywell DCS/ESD, Siemens T3000/PCS7, AB PLC), including inspection and contractor guidelines.
Safety & Compliance Management: To implement and manage safety systems (CSS, SIL, SIS), including engineering based on P&ID, C&E matrices, HAZOP, and IO Index.
HMI/SCADA Development & Performance Monitoring: To design and optimize HMI and SCADA interfaces for diagnostics, system interaction, and real-time performance monitoring.
Inspection & Risk-Based Maintenance Programs: To lead risk-based inspection programs and oversee quality assurance initiatives for all Controls systems and equipment.
Project & Budget Management: To manage Controls-related projects and budgets, including planning, execution, turnaround support, and cost reporting.
Leadership, Mentoring & Industry Engagement: To foster technical leadership and collaboration by mentoring engineers, promoting teamwork, engaging with suppliers, and adopting industry best practices.
Formal Qualifications/Education
- Essential
- Engineering graduate (BE in Instrumentation or BSEE preferred) .
- Preferred
- TUV certification must be valid for minimum of 2 years .
Job Related Work Experience
Essential
Work experience in chemical / refinery / gas plant maintenance / inspection / engineering 10+ Years .
Experience in Control System of Honeywell ESD and DCS, Triconex, Siemens (T3000 / PCS7) and AB PLC system .

Job Related Knowledge and skills
- In-depth understanding of DCS architecture, programming, and integration
- Expert
- Hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion DCS, Safety Manager ESD, and Siemens PCS7 systems, including programming in C300 and Safety Manager platforms
- Proficient
- Proven ability to support engineering and execution of DCS/PLC upgrades, migrations, and full system replacements, particularly within Honeywell-installed environments
- Advanced
- Strong understanding of system architecture, hardware, control logic, safety system configuration (Safety Builder), and network integration (SafeNet, FTE, switches/routers)
- Experience with FDM system management, Foundation Fieldbus (FF IO), HART IO, Modbus, and loop checking
- Knowledge of SIL, SIS, SIF, SCADA principles, and familiarity with industry standards (API, ISA, IEC, NEC, NFPA, ASME), including local and Saudi Aramco requirements
- Aware
- Strong logical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-resolution skills across control and safety systems
- Effective communication, teamwork, mentoring capabilities, and planning/organizational skills with a strong safety mindset
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) with excellent interpersonal skills to work across various levels of the organization
