- Build and maintain a central commodity data warehouse

- Implement concrete business use cases in close collaboration with Trading, Operations, and Commercial teams
- Ensure data quality, lineage, reconciliation, and documentation across all data sources and pipelines

- Evaluate and recommend additional data sources, tools, and integrations as the platform grows
Requirements
- Solid experience as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, Analytics Engineer, or comparable role
- Strong SQL skills; Python proficiency for data pipelines, automation, and analysis (pandas, SQLAlchemy, or similar)
- Hands on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or Superset
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts — star schema, dimensional modeling, dbt, or equivalent
- Experience with or strong interest in commodity markets, ideally oil and refined products
- Fluent in English and Russian
- Comfortable owning the full journey from raw requirement to finished, production ready dashboard
- Strong communicator — able to work with both technical peers and non technical traders or commercial staff

Role Overview
- We are currently looking for a Data & BI Engineer who will build — from scratch — an internal analytics platform that consolidates market intelligence from third party data providers (Kpler, Platts/S&P Global, OPIS) with our proprietary trading and operations data.
- The result: real time decision support for traders, analysts, and senior management across crude oil and refined products.
- This is a greenfield role with full ownership of data architecture, tooling decisions, and dashboard design; you'll work directly alongside experienced commodity traders and commercial teams to turn raw data into actionable insight.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate a modern ELT/ETL pipeline ingesting data from internal systems and external market data sources (Kpler, Platts/S&P Global, OPIS, Bloomberg, Argus).
- Build and maintain a central commodity data warehouse.
- Develop interactive dashboards and reports for price analysis, spreads, cargo flows, and margin calculations.
- Implement concrete business use cases in close collaboration with Trading, Operations, and Commercial teams — examples include crack spread monitoring, cargo tracking, refinery margin analysis, and storage economics.
- Ensure data quality, lineage, reconciliation, and documentation across all data sources and pipelines.
- Translate business requirements into working analytics quickly, iterating with stakeholders to refine outputs.
- Evaluate and recommend additional data sources, tools, and integrations as the platform grows.
Required Experience
- Solid experience as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, Analytics Engineer, or in a comparable role.
- Strong SQL skills; Python proficiency for data pipelines, automation, and analysis (pandas, SQLAlchemy, or similar).
- Hands on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or Superset.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts — star schema, dimensional modeling, dbt, or equivalent.
- Experience with or strong interest in commodity markets, ideally oil and refined products.
- Knowledge of commodity market data providers (Kpler, Platts, OPIS, Argus, Bloomberg) is a significant plus.
- Comfortable owning the full journey from raw requirement to finished, production ready dashboard.
- Strong communicator — able to work with both technical peers and non technical traders or commercial staff.
- Fluent in English, Russian.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or similar).
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, or similar).
- Experience in an energy trading, commodity house, or data heavy financial environment.
