About the Role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to operate and maintain mechanical and electrical infrastructure in Riyadh data centers. The role involves troubleshooting equipment, performing root cause analysis, and supervising contractors.

Responsibilities
- Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and encourage a world class safety culture
- Support electrical and mechanical equipment including UPS, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, ATS, Diesel Generators, Chillers, HVAC, Exhaust Fans, VFDs, and Transformers
- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical, emergency generator, HVAC and fire/life safety equipment within the data center
- Troubleshoot facility and rack level events within internal SLAs
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
- Work rotational shifts of 4 days of 12 hours shifts (2 days followed by 2 nights), and 4 days off
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
- Occasionally move objects/material, work in outdoor weather, noisy environments, at heights and from ladders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management or similar technical focus
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls)
- Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory
- Experience leading and managing operations of critical facilities with in depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems
- Experience in data center engineering (preferred)
- Knowledge of BMS and EPMS control systems (preferred)

Description
- AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
- We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.
- We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to join our expanding Data Centers Cloud regions.
Key Job Responsibilities SAFETY
- Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world class safety culture.
- Ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams.
- Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.
ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
- Support electrical and mechanical equipment including UPS, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, ATS, Diesel Generators, Chillers, HVAC, Exhaust Fans, VFDs, and Transformers.
- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical, emergency generator, HVAC and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
- Troubleshoot facility and rack level events within internal SLAs.
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
DAY IN THE LIFE
- Work rotational shifts of 4 days of 12 hours shifts (2 days followed by 2 nights), and 4 days off (including night, weekends and holidays).
- Respond to on call rotation reaction to off duty emergency calls.
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking.
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
- Occasionally move objects/material (weight limits in accordance with regulations).
- Work in outdoor weather conditions, noisy environments, at heights and from ladders.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management or similar technical focus.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls).
- Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory.
- Experience leading and managing operations of critical facilities which require in depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data center engineering.
- Knowledge of BMS and EPMS control systems and data collection/trending.
