Role Overview
The Cost Manager provides comprehensive cost management and commercial oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
The role supports major building and mixed-use developments through cost control, forecasting, procurement, construction, and final account activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost management from concept and design through construction and project close-out.
- Develop budgets, cost plans, estimates, cash flow forecasts, quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities, and tender documentation.
- Assess design changes, value engineering opportunities, project requirements, variations, claims, and commercial risks.
- Monitor expenditure, commitments, forecast final costs, payment applications, valuations, and contractor performance against approved budgets.
- Provide cost reports, financial analysis, commercial advice, tender evaluations, and recommendations to project leadership.
- Coordinate with Project Controls, Planning, Commercial, Design, Procurement, and Construction teams.
- Support compliance with project procedures, contractual requirements, cost standards, final account settlement, and close-out.
- Mentor Quantity Surveyors and junior cost management professionals.
Requirements
- Ability to manage cost and commercial activities across the full project lifecycle from pre-contract planning through close-out.
- Knowledge of project budgets, cost plans, estimates, cash flow forecasts, and cost reporting.
- Ability to evaluate design changes, value engineering, variations, claims, and commercial risks.
- Ability to coordinate with Project Controls, Planning, Commercial, Design, Procurement, and Construction teams.
- Ability to provide technical guidance to Quantity Surveyors and junior cost management professionals.
