Company and Role Context

Tata Consulting Engineers provides integrated engineering and project consultancy services across infrastructure, power, resources, mining, and metallurgy.

The Construction Engineer oversees and coordinates project work by contractors and maintains project performance goals.

The role coordinates work efforts and ensures activities are sequenced according to the project schedule.

The engineer evaluates construction methods and performance for assigned project scope elements.

Experience

  • The role requires 5–10 years of onsite experience on major projects.
  • Relevant sectors include infrastructure, real estate, power, steel, and chemical projects.
  • Candidates should have participated in at least two significant major projects similar in size and scope to the company’s delivered projects.

Qualifications

  • A graduate or postgraduate qualification in an engineering discipline is required.
  • A postgraduate degree or diploma in construction management is preferred.

Construction and Contractor Management

  • Monitor job-site health, safety, and environment performance and verify contractor worker protection.
  • Supervise construction and administer contracts for assigned project portions.
  • Act as the job-site point of contact for contractors in the assigned area.
  • Coordinate design deliverables to support efficient construction.
  • Communicate deficiencies and non-conformances to the Construction Manager.

Safety and Project Controls

  • Plan and chair project safety meetings and assist with incident investigations and reporting.
  • Assist with construction estimating, scheduling, reporting, cost control, measurement verification, and invoice certification.
  • Lead bill certification and measurement of quantities for the assigned construction area.
  • Resolve extra scope and enforce change management and Request for Information processes.
  • Act as the administrative spokesperson during the Construction Manager’s absence.

Planning and Business Support

  • Assist with developing and reviewing construction information for proposals and business improvement activities.
  • Participate in and provide construction input for project constructability plans.

Workplace

  • The role requires onsite experience and involves job-site and contractor coordination.
