The Commis supports the kitchen team with daily food preparation and service while maintaining quality, hygiene, and consistency.
This is an entry-level kitchen role for culinary professionals seeking to learn and grow in a high-standard environment.
Food Preparation and Service
- Assist with ingredient and dish preparation according to recipes and standards.
- Support the Chef de Partie during service.
- Maintain consistency, portion control, and presentation standards.
- Follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
Kitchen Operations
- Set up and organize workstations before service.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of tools, equipment, and ingredients.
- Assist with basic cooking tasks under supervision.
Hygiene, Safety and Compliance
- Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
- Maintain clean kitchen work areas and equipment.
- Follow proper food handling, labeling, storage, and FIFO procedures.
Learning and Development
- Develop culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Participate in training sessions and daily briefings.
- Demonstrate willingness to improve skills and knowledge continuously.
Qualifications and Experience
- Culinary diploma or basic professional kitchen training is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef or kitchen trainee is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards is required.
