About the Role
AWS is seeking a Colo Regional Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical/electrical engineering services for data centers in the region. Requires experience in mission critical facilities, commissioning, and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities
- Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in the region
- Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and handover
- Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures
- Directly support operational issues with ad hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, and event support
- Provide technical support for existing data center upgrades and design solutions to add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency
- Support operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing colo data center upgrades
- Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, and EHS team to promote standards
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions
- Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations
Requirements
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (data centers, power generation, oil and gas)
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
- Experience in commissioning
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer License (preferred)
- Experience with building codes and regulations for the region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

Description
- AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in your region, including design input, submittal review and incorporating AWS products.
- Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
- Directly support operational issues with ad hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event support.
- Provide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions.
- Supporting operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co location (colo) data center upgrades.
- Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Experience in commissioning.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer License.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
