Chief Accountant (Real Estate Industry)

Role Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for real estate projects, properties, and business units.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and property-related accounts.
• Monitor property management, leasing, rental income, service charges, maintenance, and operating expense transactions.
• Monitor project and property budgets, costs, cash flows, and financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial regulations, accounting standards, and audit requirements.
• Coordinate external audits and provide records for property and project-related accounts.
• Analyze property and project performance, variances, cost trends, and improvement opportunities.
• Improve financial reporting processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Provide analysis and reports for real estate investment, property operations, budgeting, and strategic decisions.
• Coordinate with Property Management, Leasing, Development, Projects, and other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Experience in real estate, property management, construction, or related industries is preferred.
• Supervisory or senior analyst experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Real estate accounting, property accounting, leasing, rental income, service charges, property operating expenses, or project accounting experience is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of financial management for real estate projects and property portfolios.
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar, plus advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• CPA, ACCA, or CMA certification is preferred.
