About the Role

A private family in Umm Al Quwain, UAE, is seeking a live-in Caregiver / Special Needs Teacher.

The role provides one-on-one support to an 18-year-old nonverbal young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The successful candidate will help develop communication, independence, emotional well-being, and daily living skills in a safe home environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferably nonverbal adolescents or young adults.
  • A qualification in special education, psychology, ABA therapy, occupational therapy, caregiving, or a related field is preferred.
  • Patient, compassionate, emotionally mature, and passionate about supporting individuals with autism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort working in a private household.
  • Ability to swim is preferred, and knowledge of gentle massage or relaxation techniques is advantageous.
  • Willingness to commit to a long-term live-in position.
  • Fluency in Tagalog is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one educational and developmental support and assist with communication, social interaction, and daily living skills.
  • Plan structured learning, sensory, and recreational activities.
  • Create a calm, positive environment that promotes confidence and emotional well-being.
  • Encourage independence and support daily routines and emotional regulation.
  • Use gentle relaxation or massage techniques if experienced and supervise swimming activities when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with family and household support staff, maintaining regular progress updates and observations.

Working Schedule

  • The schedule is six working days per week, with eight to nine hours per day.
  • The position includes live-in accommodation and one day off per week.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary is AED 6,000 per month.
  • Accommodation and meals are provided.
  • Transportation is provided by the family driver.
  • Additional household support includes an assistant caregiver.
  • The opportunity is described as stable and long term.
