Role Overview

A private family in Umm Al Quwain is seeking a live-in Caregiver / Special Needs Teacher.

The role supports an 18-year-old nonverbal young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The position provides one-on-one support for communication, independence, emotional well-being, and daily living skills in a safe home environment.

Fluency in Tagalog is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide educational and developmental support and assist with communication, social interaction, and daily living skills.
  • Plan structured learning, sensory, and recreational activities.
  • Create a calm, positive environment and support emotional regulation.
  • Encourage independence and assist with daily routines.
  • Use gentle relaxation or massage techniques if experienced and supervise swimming activities when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with family and household staff and maintain progress updates and observations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder is required, preferably with nonverbal adolescents or young adults.
  • A qualification in Special Education, Psychology, ABA Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Caregiving, or a related field is preferred.
  • The candidate should be patient, compassionate, emotionally mature, and passionate about autism support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The candidate must be comfortable working in a private household.
  • Ability to swim is preferred, and knowledge of gentle massage or relaxation techniques is advantageous.
  • Willingness to commit to a long-term live-in position is required.
  • Fluency in Tagalog is mandatory.

Working Schedule

  • The schedule is six working days per week.
  • Working hours are 8–9 hours per day.
  • The position includes one day off per week.
  • Live-in accommodation is provided.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary is AED 6,000 per month.
  • Free accommodation and meals are provided.
  • Transportation is provided by the family driver.
  • Additional household support includes an assistant caregiver.
