About the opportunity

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Design and execute visual and motion work for product launches, product education, brand campaigns, events, and digital channels.
• Design and evolve brand systems, including motion guidelines, templates, and guardrails.
• Integrate motion into brand design and establish animation principles and patterns.
• Direct and evaluate AI-generated creative work against Gusto's brand standards.
• Use AI tools to explore more territory, iterate faster, and improve deliverable quality.
• Partner with creative, marketing, product, and growth teams from concept through final delivery.
• Build repeatable templates and workflows for faster, high-quality execution.
• Maintain brand integrity across all deliverables, including AI-assisted work.

Required qualifications

• Six or more years of experience in brand design, visual design, and motion for an in-house studio, agency, or content team.
• A robust portfolio covering brand identity, product marketing, campaigns, and digital content is required.
• Portfolio examples should explain the role of AI and the creative decisions made.
• Expert proficiency in motion design principles and tools, including Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• A demonstrated point of view on directing AI output and maintaining high creative standards.
• Proficient collaboration skills across creative, production, marketing, and product partners.
• Experience contributing to AI-assisted production standards, guardrails, evaluation criteria, or workflows.

Design capabilities

• Strong design instincts across typography, color, composition, and motion direction.
• Ability to move between brand-defining work and fast-turn executional needs.
• Ability to improve both creative output and the process used to produce it.
• Experience with motion tools such as Cavalry, Rive, and Lottie.

Compensation details

• The cash compensation range is $146,000 to $183,000 per year in Denver and most remote locations.
• The cash compensation range is $177,000 to $222,000 per year in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York.
• Final offers vary based on factors including candidate experience and expertise, and employees may also receive equity.

Workplace expectations

• Gusto has physical offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City.
• Employees based in those locations are expected to work from the office approximately two to three days per week or more depending on the role.
• Approved work from other locations requires a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection.
