The Bar Supervisor handles guest beverage questions, bar stock and supplies, drink preparation, wine service, cash procedures, security, and team coordination.
The role supports management with employee hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching.
Bar operations
- Prepare drinks according to specified recipes and measuring systems.
- Check stock and supplies, requisition replenishment, and perform bottle-for-bottle liquor restock.
- Issue, open, and serve wine and champagne bottles and communicate last call.
- Count the bank, complete cashier reports, resolve discrepancies, secure receipts, and maintain required change.
- Secure liquor, beer, wine, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
- Ensure staff work together and communicate replenishment needs promptly.
Guest service and standards
- Answer guest questions about wine origin, vintage, and style.
- Welcome and acknowledge guests, anticipate service needs, address concerns, and thank guests with genuine appreciation.
- Use clear and professional language and maintain positive working relationships.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
- Maintain clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, confidentiality, and company asset protection.
Safety and physical duties
- Follow company, safety, and security policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, and complete safety training.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Perform fine-motor tasks and move through narrow, confined, elevated, sloping, uneven, or slippery areas.
Preferred qualification
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least one year of related work experience.
- No supervisory experience is listed as required.
- No license or certification is listed.
