Position Summary
The Commis 1 prepares and cooks food, maintains food quality and presentation standards, and supports kitchen operations during service.
The role includes kitchen preparation, communication with chefs and food and beverage staff, safety compliance, and physical kitchen duties.
Kitchen Duties
- Prepare special meals, substitute items, cold foods, and other dishes according to recipes and preparation checklists.
- Regulate ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters and thaw frozen food in the refrigerator.
- Maintain proper portions, arrangement, garnish, quality, quantity, and food preparation logs.
- Communicate assistance needs during busy periods and inform the Chef about excess food for daily specials.
- Inform food and beverage service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock menu items.
Team and Guest Service
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching of employees.
- Serve as a role model, anticipate and address guest service needs, and support team goals.
- Communicate clearly and professionally and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Maintain clean and professional uniform and personal appearance and protect confidential information and company assets.
