Position Summary

The Assistant Chief Engineer works in hotel engineering and facilities, maintaining equipment, life-safety systems, and guest-facing facilities.

The position is classified as full-time, non-management, and not remote.

Location and Schedule

  • The role is located at the Sheraton property on Al Muntazah Street in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
  • The schedule is full time and the position is not remote.

Engineering Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, perform preventive maintenance on, and recommend replacement of tools, appliances, and equipment.
  • Calibrate controls, gauges, and meters and operate shut-off valves when needed.
  • Order, mark, and stock parts and supplies while maintaining inventory and purchase order logs.
  • Inspect tools, equipment, and machines and use computers to enter or locate work-related information.
  • Operate power lifts and complete fire-pump and generator run tests as part of life-safety checklists.
  • Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems and assist with disaster response protocols.
  • Respond to guest repair requests.

People and Service Responsibilities

  • Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
  • Follow company, safety, and security policies and report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance and protect confidential information.
  • Welcome guests, address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and communicate professionally.
  • Support team goals, maintain positive working relationships, and respond appropriately to employee concerns.
  • Identify and implement improvements to efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost savings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • No license or certification is specified.

Physical Requirements

  • The role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • The role requires standing, sitting, walking, stair and service-ramp movement, and reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
