Role Overview
The Associate Data Engineer will work across the end-to-end data lifecycle, from raw integrations through data modelling, visualization, and data products.
The role includes batch and real-time data processing in a modern cloud-based data warehouse.
The engineer will collaborate with product, technology, business, trust and safety, finance, marketing, and other departments.
Responsibilities
- Integrate raw data from primary and third-party systems.
- Model operational and application data layers in the data warehouse.
- Develop in Amazon Redshift and write SQL in an Agile workflow.
- Design and implement ETL processes in Matillion ETL.
- Build real-time pipelines and applications with AWS Lambda, Kinesis, API Gateway, and REST APIs.
- Develop data products for data-driven features and business solutions.
- Maintain data quality, system stability, security, and coding standards in SQL, Python, and ETL design.
- Build dashboards and advanced visualizations in Periscope Data with a focus on usability.
- Collaborate with multiple departments on data products.
- Participate in the early-morning ETL status-check rota.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and manage stakeholders through project delivery.
Requirements
- A top-ranking academic background in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or another technical discipline.
- At least 2 years of customer-centric data experience at big-data scale, preferably in online or e-commerce.
- At least 1 year of experience with one or more programming languages, especially Python and SQL.
- Experience with a modern big-data warehouse, ETL, and data visualization.
- Knowledge of relational and dimensional data models and Linux workflows.
- Strong SQL knowledge across relational and cloud data warehousing technologies.
- Ability to communicate insights to non-technical audiences.
- Self-motivated, curious, creative, collaborative, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
