Position Summary

  • The Associate Computing Professor for ICT Disciplines delivers high quality instruction introducing students to fundamental concepts of IT, Software Engineering, and Computer Science.
  • Helps students understand core differences between pathways, explore real world applications, and build foundational knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory computing courses such as Foundations of Computing, Introduction to ICT Disciplines, Computational Thinking & Problem Solving, or Computing Careers & Pathways.
  • Deliver engaging instruction exploring fundamental concepts including algorithms, data representation, networks, and cybersecurity basics.
  • Provide clear explanation of distinctions between Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Computer Science.
  • Use case studies, industry examples, hands on labs, and real world projects to contextualize learning.
  • Guide students in understanding career pathways, industry roles, and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in curriculum development and continuous program improvement.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that align with course objectives and standards.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students through office hours, academic advising, and major selection guidance.
  • Assess student understanding through various formative and summative assessment methods.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional teaching experience at the university level or equivalent professional practice.
  • Strong subject matter expertise in computing fundamentals and broad knowledge of current trends.
  • Ability to clearly explain and differentiate between the three computing discipline pathways.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral).
