Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented
Aerodrome Projects Director
to join our team.
In this role, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of major airport and airfield development programs, ensuring safe, timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Define, implement, and oversee the overall project delivery strategy for airport and airfield programs.
- Establish governance frameworks, reporting structures, and performance measurement systems aligned with client objectives and aviation standards.
- Lead the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases of major aviation infrastructure projects.
- Ensure project schedules are realistic, integrated across disciplines, and aligned with operational requirements.
- Monitor project progress, identify delays or delivery risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule performance.
- Direct the preparation and management of project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and financial performance updates.
- Drive cost control, value engineering, commercial efficiency, and financial risk management across all project stages.
- Monitor contractor performance, payments, change impacts, and overall commercial performance.
- Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of technical, financial, operational, schedule, and interface risks.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, airport authority requirements, environmental standards, safety requirements, and project lifecycle protocols.
- Act as the primary interface between airport authorities, government agencies, contractors, consultants, project sponsors, and internal delivery teams.
- Facilitate effective decision-making, resolve delivery challenges, and maintain transparent reporting with senior executives and key stakeholders.
- Oversee contract administration, procurement strategy, change management, claims assessment, and dispute resolution.
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams including engineers, project managers, planners, commercial professionals, and technical specialists.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and delivery-focused performance.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes, workflows, digital tools, reporting systems, and technology adoption.
- Champion the use of project monitoring systems, analytics, and performance data to improve predictability, decision-making, and reporting accuracy.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Airport Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in airport, airfield, or major aviation infrastructure project delivery.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles managing large multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
- Proven experience directing major airport or airfield development programs through planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Strong knowledge of airfield infrastructure, airport operations, aviation regulations, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated expertise in project planning, design coordination, construction management, budget oversight, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of procurement, contracts, claims, change management, and commercial governance within major infrastructure programs.
- Proven ability to manage complex interfaces across clients, government entities, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to present complex project information clearly to senior executives, project sponsors, and external stakeholders.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PE, or relevant aviation project management credentials.
- Experience delivering multi-phase airport expansions, greenfield airfield construction, or major aviation infrastructure programs.
- Experience with FIDIC or similar international contract standards.
- Proficiency with project management and reporting tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, EcoSys, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to drive decisions using project and operational data.
