- Inspect the installation of utility systems, ensuring proper alignment, levels, and gradients.
- Verify that all works comply with approved designs, specifications, and industry standards.
- Monitor materials and workmanship to ensure top notch quality.
- Witness and verify system testing (e.g., pressure testing for pipelines, flow testing for drainage).
- Oversee the commissioning of utility systems to ensure they are fully operational and meet project requirements.
- Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and utility service providers to address any issues.
- Liaise with project engineers and managers to resolve discrepancies and implement design changes.
- Ensure all utility works are carried out safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Monitor environmental practices, such as waste disposal and stormwater management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in utility systems inspection
- Strong knowledge of dry utility systems (electrical, telecom)
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASTM, BS, ISO)
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting utility drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for utility works
- Experience with trenching, excavation, and backfilling processes
