About the Role
Clio is seeking an Accounting Manager for an 18-month contract to lead the general ledger, month-end close, and technical accounting research. The role requires a CPA designation and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a high-growth technology environment.

Responsibilities
- Mentor, develop, and manage a small team of junior and intermediate accountants
- Manage the general ledger accounting operations and month end close function for the parent and international subsidiaries
- Manage the granular aspects of financial reporting, including completion of note disclosure checklists and drafting of financial statement notes
- Support the annual consolidated external audit process, and lead the statutory audits for international subsidiaries
- Identify potential technical accounting issues and complete high quality research and analysis to develop and document accounting policies
- Design end to end standard operating and detailed review procedures to ensure high quality accounting records
- Identify risks of material misstatement in existing processes, including maintaining accounting policies and owning the Risk and Control Matrix
- Lead the detailed analysis of financial results, including preparation of monthly flux analysis and quarterly analytics
- Lead project management initiatives for the accounting function, including implementation of new software for automation
- Manage the preparation and review of global indirect tax filings (Sales Tax, VAT, GST/HST) across multiple jurisdictions
- Identify and execute on opportunities to drive efficiency, accuracy, and impact across all aspects of accounting
- Liaise with cross departmental stakeholders in all projects and matters as they relate to finance, accounting, internal control, or tax
Requirements
- CPA designation is required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP (and/or IFRS)
- Proven experience managing the month end close process for a multi entity, multi currency global organization
- A passion for leadership with demonstrated experience managing and mentoring a team of accountants
- Experience working in an environment with robust internal controls
- Experience with major ERP systems (NetSuite is highly desirable)
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate accounting impacts to non finance stakeholders
- The ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, managing competing priorities while maintaining a high attention to detail

- Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, the Accounting Manager will serve as the operational backbone of our accounting function.
