Role Overview
The Design Lead (Electrical - AC) leads engineering design activities for solar PV power plants and related power distribution projects.
The role supports the full engineering cycle from pre-bid engineering through commissioning, warranty, and site execution support.
Qualification and Experience
- A B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering is required.
- At least 10 years of experience is required, including solar PV power plant or power distribution design experience.
- The role requires knowledge of solar PV electrical engineering, equipment layouts, design calculations, and applicable codes and standards.
- General awareness of Dialux and MS Office is required; awareness of ETAP is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design engineers and draughtspeople and manage engineering delivery within budget, schedule, and quality targets.
- Review drawings, electrical equipment sizing calculations, vendor deliverables, and client approvals.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary checks across civil, structural, instrumentation, MEP, mechanical, operations, and other teams.
- Plan man-hours, review BOQs, provide technical clarifications, and support contracts and supply chain teams.
- Provide design clarifications and support to site execution teams through commissioning and warranty periods.
- Review equipment, cable routing, cable tray, earthing, lighting, and lightning protection layouts.
- Collect project inputs from clients, vendors, project engineering managers, and operations teams.
Technical Expertise
- Knowledge of SLD preparation, layout engineering, earthing, cable routing, lighting, lightning protection, and cable tray routing.
- Ability to perform or review calculations for busbars, UPS systems, batteries, LT transformers, earthing conductors, and short-circuit forces.
- Ability to interpret contractual technical requirements and understand interdisciplinary electrical design aspects.
