THERMAL PROCESS & HEAT TRANSFER ENGINEER – MIXING & BATCH SYSTEMS

Thermal engineering parameters

• Relevant parameters include heat duty, heat-transfer coefficient, heat-transfer area, specific heat capacity, thermal conductivity, heating time, and cooling time.
• Other parameters include temperature differential, product mass, batch size, viscosity, utility temperature, utility flow rate, steam pressure, thermal losses, jacket efficiency, agitation effect, and thermal gradients.

Process utilities and equipment

• Process utilities include steam, hot water, chilled water, cooling water, glycol solutions, thermal oil, refrigerated utilities, and plant utility circuits.
• Equipment areas include jacketed mixing vessels, batch mixers, high-shear mixers, homogenisers, process tanks, heated and cooled vessels, vacuum systems, heat exchangers, pumps, agitated reactors, and integrated batch systems.

Process applications

• Applications include dissolution, mixing, emulsification, homogenisation, paste processing, syrup preparation, heating, cooling, controlled crystallisation, ingredient incorporation, and temperature-sensitive batch production.

Candidate requirements

• A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Thermal, or Food Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline, is required.
• Relevant industrial engineering experience, practical heat-transfer and thermodynamics knowledge, and experience with industrial heating and cooling systems are required.
• Candidates should understand jacketed vessels and batch-processing equipment and be able to perform or review basic thermal calculations.
• Candidates should interpret process data, P&IDs, and equipment specifications and understand process utilities.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills and excellent written and spoken English are required.
• At least 3 years of relevant industrial engineering experience is preferred.
