The Test and Evaluation SME provides technical leadership for complex test and evaluation activities across defence and range environments.
The role covers test design, instrumentation, data requirements, operational assurance, risk management, analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement.
The position works with clients, range operations, engineers, and test teams to develop test concepts, execution strategies, and resource plans.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review test plans, objectives, success criteria, and data requirements.
- Design test concepts, methodologies, and evaluation strategies.
- Lead complex test activities across multiple stakeholders, facilities, and disciplines.
- Coordinate requirements, schedules, resources, and operational priorities.
- De-conflict range assets, instrumentation, facilities, and support services.
- Validate test readiness, configurations, methodologies, and documentation.
- Review post-test data, reports, analysis outputs, and lessons learned.
- Provide expertise in instrumentation, measurement systems, data acquisition, and test methodologies.
- Develop performance metrics for safety, effectiveness, efficiency, and readiness.
- Support Safety Management System processes and validate operational risk assessments.
- Apply quantitative analysis, modelling, simulation, and Monte Carlo techniques.
- Drive quality assurance, process improvement, standardization, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, systems engineering, safety engineering, risk management, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in defence test and evaluation, systems engineering, test planning, range operations, or technical leadership.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and test specialists.
- Experience executing complex test programmes in defence, military, aerospace, weapons, munitions, autonomous systems, or related industries.
- Expertise in instrumentation, measurement systems, telemetry, data acquisition, and test support technologies.
- Experience in a test range, proving ground, weapons testing facility, aviation test environment, or similar setting.
- Knowledge of range safety, risk management, operational assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with Safety Management Systems and operational risk assessments.
- Working knowledge of quantitative analysis, modelling, simulation, uncertainty assessment, and Monte Carlo methodologies.
- English proficiency is required for international collaboration.
