EDGE is seeking an Engineer II, Design & Modeling based in Abu Dhabi.

The role performs FEA, structural simulation, and engineering calculations for mechanical and vehicle systems.

The position supports structural integrity, durability, validation, and design optimization.

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Define analysis requirements, load cases, acceptance criteria, boundary conditions, material properties, contacts, meshing strategies, and convergence criteria.
  • Perform static, dynamic, modal or vibration, thermal or thermo-mechanical, fatigue, buckling, nonlinear, and contact analyses.
  • Perform engineering calculations, load-path assessments, structural sizing, and factor-of-safety calculations.
  • Evaluate stress, strain, deformation, stiffness, natural frequencies, durability, and structural margins.
  • Recommend design improvements, support weight reduction, and conduct failure investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Correlate FEA results with physical testing and support prototype validation and qualification.
  • Prepare analysis reports and present technical recommendations during design reviews.
  • Implement risk mitigations, report operational risks, and follow approved risk-management, quality, HSE, security, and contractual procedures.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Mechatronics Engineering is essential.
  • At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience with strong practical FEA and structural-analysis expertise is essential.
  • Practical experience in static, dynamic, modal or vibration, and thermal or thermo-mechanical analysis is essential.
  • Experience in fatigue, buckling, and nonlinear or contact analysis is essential.
  • Strong experience with ANSYS or equivalent CAE software is essential.
  • A relevant Master’s degree and experience in automotive, defense, heavy-vehicle, or special-purpose vehicle applications are advantageous.
  • Experience with Creo Simulation, Creo, Windchill, Geomagic Design X, Control X, and Artec Studio is advantageous.
  • Experience with blast, shock, impact analysis, materials, GD&T, manufacturing, welding, fabrication, CAD/PLM, reverse engineering, 3D scanning, or 3D printing is advantageous.
  • English proficiency is required for collaboration across international teams.
