Technical Manager MEP

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical activities for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, fire alarm and ELV systems.
• Manage technical submissions, shop drawings, material submissions, RFIs, method statements and technical queries.
• Review IFC drawings, specifications, BOQ and contract requirements for discrepancies, risks and opportunities.
• Lead coordination across MEP, civil, structural, architectural, façade and specialist systems.
• Manage engineering deliverables and align submissions with the construction programme.
• Coordinate approvals with consultants, clients, specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
• Manage MEP procurement and technical evaluation of materials, equipment and specialist subcontractors.
• Support value engineering, variations, technical changes and claims substantiation.
• Monitor installation and lead testing, commissioning, authority inspections and final handover.
• Manage as-built drawings, O&M manuals, close-out documentation and technical teams.

Candidate requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognised university.
• Minimum 15–20 years of relevant MEP engineering and construction experience.
• Experience delivering high-rise, luxury residential, hotel, commercial, mixed-use or mega building projects.
• Experience managing the lifecycle from design and engineering through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, technical specifications, contracts, BOQ, IFC drawings and shop drawings.
• Knowledge of UAE Municipality, Civil Defence and utility authority requirements.
• Understanding of FIDIC and construction contract administration.
• Strong experience in technical coordination, value engineering, procurement and subcontractor management.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Main Contractor or Tier-1 Contractor experience is highly preferred.
• PMP or equivalent professional certification would be an advantage.
• Experience with district cooling, BMS, chiller plants, water treatment, fire and life safety systems, low-current systems, and testing and commissioning is highly valued.
• Experience on major UAE developments exceeding AED 1 billion is advantageous.
