Technical Business Analyst

Location and Work Arrangement

• The position is based in Calgary, Alberta, and is described as hybrid.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Understand Midstream business areas, processes, and project objectives.
• Gather requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, storyboarding, and other discovery methods.
• Translate business needs into functional requirements and evaluate technical solutions, costs, risks, and trade-offs.
• Prioritize requirements, establish scope, facilitate competing stakeholder priorities, and manage requirements through delivery.
• Liaise among business stakeholders, Digital/IT teams, and developers.
• Prepare business cases, requirements summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Experience and Skills

• 10+ years of Business Analysis experience.
• Experience with complex technology initiatives involving multiple business and technical stakeholder groups.
• Strong requirements gathering, process analysis, and functional requirements documentation experience.
• Ability to identify explicit and unstated needs and evaluate technical options from a business perspective.
• Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, negotiation, influencing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn new business areas, technologies, processes, and domains while managing competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Oil and Gas, Energy, or Midstream industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Business Analysis certification such as CBAP.
• Professional certification or demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies.
