A respected BC regulatory body is seeking an Associate General Counsel for a 12-month contract.
This is a broad, senior in-house mandate covering the full corporate legal function.
The role provides advice across contracts, procurement, governance, privacy, HR, and board-level strategy.
What You Will Work On
- Negotiate major vendor contracts.
- Advise on privacy law and FOIPPA compliance.
- Provide corporate governance and board committee advice.
- Negotiate memoranda of understanding with other regulatory bodies.
- Handle HR matters including employment agreements and sensitive terminations.
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior leadership.
Ideal Candidate
- Corporate commercial lawyer with a strong foundation in drafting and negotiating contracts.
- Motivated by public interest work.
- Humble, hands-on, and able to contribute immediately.
- Candidates with varying levels of experience may be considered if they have strong contract drafting and negotiation fundamentals.
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid working arrangement with five days in the office per ten working days.
Schedule
- The role follows a genuine 9-to-5 schedule and does not require around-the-clock availability.
Compensation
- Compensation is stated as up to $227,000 and no payment cadence is specified.
