Role Summary
Novartis is hiring a Supply Operations Specialist to support tactical buying, material planning, order management, and supply performance across its supply network.
The role also supports supply chain KPIs, master data management, labeling logistics, and cross-functional efforts to maintain reliable pharmaceutical product supply.
The position is based in Morris Plains, New Jersey, and relocation support is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish supply plans that balance customer service, production capabilities, inventory levels, and operational costs.
- Manage order fulfillment and coordinate physical shipments with transportation and international trade partners.
- Maintain supply chain KPIs and support supplier performance management.
- Optimize material requirements planning and maintain planning and master data parameters for active products.
- Ensure order transparency, prioritization, continuous supply, and appropriate inventory levels.
- Collaborate with procurement, quality, manufacturing science, and technical operations teams on planning, validation, and development activities.
- Use SAP, business intelligence, and reporting tools to communicate supply performance, risks, and disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, transportation, customs, company policy, and supply continuity standards.
- Support supplier onboarding, material master creation, change controls, corrective and preventive actions, and procedure updates.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations, engineering, life sciences, or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in supply chain operations, buying, planning, customer service, or pharmaceutical operations.
- Knowledge of purchasing, distribution, transportation, import and export, and working capital management.
- Experience with enterprise planning and resource management systems and supply chain planning or purchasing tools.
- Strong understanding of GMPs in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Desirable Requirements
- APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional certification is desirable.
- APICS Certified in Planning and Inventory Management certification is desirable.
Location
- The role is based in Morris Plains, New Jersey; applicants should be able to access the location because relocation support is not available.
Compensation
- The expected salary range is $98,700–$183,300 per year.
- Compensation may include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on role level, eligibility for annual equity awards.
