Role Purpose
The Supplier Quality Engineer develops and implements supplier quality standards and supplier quality control systems to ensure supplied products and processes adhere to company and industry standards.
The incumbent is responsible for overseeing testing, verification and inspection, analysing results, identifying trends, determining plans for corrective actions, and consistently working towards creating or improving processes that enable conforming product delivery.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement supplier quality plans, standards, testing procedures and risk‑reduction methods for supplied materials and components.
- Review and provide feedback on drawings, models, schematics and software relevant to supplied products.
- Establish data‑driven supplier improvement plans and ensure effective execution.
- Conduct supplier maturity assessments and recommend development actions.
- Support Supplier Performance Management, including preventive/corrective actions and supplier ratings.
- Analyse supplier data to identify risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Participate in MRB to advise on non‑conforming supplied parts and recommend solutions.
- Perform supplier audits per schedule, ensuring clear communication, accurate reporting and agreed actions.
- Oversee First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensure full approval and feedback.
- Ensure APQP deliverables (PPAP, PSW, MSA, Cpk, FMEA, etc.) meet requirements and deadlines.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering and Programmes on supplier‑related commitments.
- Conduct incoming quality verification, validation, testing and processing of supplied products.
- Ensure workflows comply with safety regulations and documentation meets quality standards.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or similar engineering field.
- Minimum 8+ years’ extensive experience in a Quality Engineering environment.
- Knowledge of quality engineering.
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning and First Article Inspection tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of quality assurance techniques and methodologies (ISO 9001:2015).
- Knowledge of testing tools, equipment and mechanical aptitude.
Preferred
- 3+ years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer in the Defence industry with regional exposure.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified or similar.
- Chartered Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI)
