Supervisor – Railway Operations & Safety

Position

Qualification & Experience

• At least 3 years of experience as an SSE or equivalent grade and above in the Civil or Electrical Engineering Department of Indian Railways.
• Experience as an SM, TI, or equivalent grade and above in the Operating Department of Indian Railways is an alternative qualifying background.
• Relevant experience in railway operations, engineering, safety, and field supervision is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise railway operations and ensure compliance with applicable railway safety rules, procedures, and operating standards.
• Monitor railway engineering and operational activities and conduct regular infrastructure and operational-area inspections.
• Identify hazards, operational risks, and non-compliances and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering, operating, maintenance, project teams, Railway Authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor safe working practices during railway construction, maintenance, and operational activities.
• Support investigation and reporting of incidents, accidents, near misses, and safety observations.
• Maintain inspection, safety observation, incident, and corrective-action records.
• Conduct safety briefings and awareness sessions for railway personnel.
• Prepare periodic reports and escalate critical safety and operational issues immediately.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of Indian Railway operating and safety procedures.
• Practical knowledge of railway engineering or operating department activities.
• Knowledge of railway safety practices, inspection procedures, and risk identification.
• Strong communication, coordination, leadership, and site supervision capabilities.
• Ability to work in field or site environments and handle operational situations effectively.
• Willingness to work at railway project locations according to operational requirements.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Retired or former Railway personnel with SSE-equivalent Civil/Electrical experience or SM/TI-equivalent Operating Department experience are encouraged to apply.
