Role Overview
The Start-Up Supervisor works in Qatar with a major oil and gas company and has an onshore scope.
The role oversees production readiness, start-up activities, staff deployment, safe work execution, and operational handover.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of secondary school education and a vocational training programme certificate.
- At least 8 years of experience in the oil and gas sector.
- Substantial knowledge of production equipment and control systems in the designated area.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
- Operational technical knowledge in the designated supervision area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production procedures and practices and identify potential enhancements.
- Supervise permit-to-work activities in start-up and brownfield areas.
- Plan, allocate, and supervise subordinate staff and support manpower planning.
- Support offshore operational requirements and oversee handover to the permanent asset.
- Coordinate pre-start-up and shutdown tasks and support operational readiness.
- Support maintenance planning and coordinate start-up activities to keep equipment in optimum condition.
- Authorize work, maintain shift logs, provide handover briefings, and enforce procedural, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Assess competencies, identify training gaps, and implement development programmes.
- Act as Incident Controller during emergencies and provide incident briefings.
- Participate in risk screening, Re-HAZOP, safety cases, yard walkdowns, and system check sheets.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc reports.
- Work with project and operations teams to deliver safe, seamless facility start-up.
