The Opportunity - Student, Farm Worker

Reporting to the Smart Farm Operations Supervisor and supporting additional activities under the guidance of the Assistant Manager, the Farm Service Worker will ensure that his/her duties are performed in a safe, effective and efficient manner. Responsibilities will include assisting farm operations in activities such as:

The care and feeding of livestock and equine

Activities related to crop production

Use of technologies and tools to document important production data (such as HerdTrax or SheepTrax)

Setting-up and assisting with labs for students and assisting with research project coordination on the farm

General cleaning and minor maintenance of facilities and equipment and all other related duties.

Key Job Functions:

Support the coordination of Olds College Centre for Innovation (OCCI) projects.

Assist with general facility and equipment maintenance.

Assist with calving of cow herd and lambing of sheep flock (and as trained/qualified).

Complete feeding and bedding requirements daily.

Maintain production and treatment records.

Involvement in supporting cropping field operations as required (and as trained/qualified).
