Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and proper storage of kitchen serviceware and equipment.
Assist kitchen staff with cleaning, food storage, and organization of work and storage areas.
Main tasks
- Maintain clean and orderly kitchens, back dock, dumpster, and utility work areas.
- Perform heavy-duty cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, refrigerators, freezers, and kitchen equipment.
- Handle chemicals safely, follow sanitation procedures, and know the MSDS information for chemicals used.
- Operate dishwashing equipment and clean, sanitize, sort, and store kitchen serviceware.
- Return clean china, glass, and silver to proper storage while minimizing breakage.
- Empty food and beverage area garbage into the hotel dumpster.
- Know fire extinguisher locations and operation and practice safe work habits.
- Break down, clean, and reassemble kitchen equipment as needed.
- Assist with restaurant buffet setup and breakdown and supply banquets with serviceware.
- Change dishwashing machine water and report equipment maintenance needs.
- Clean designated areas by sweeping, mopping, and washing floors.
- Support any kitchen position that requires assistance.
Experience and requirements
- At least one year of experience as a Kitchen Steward in hospitality or restaurant operations.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, storage, sanitation, and MSDS information.
- Collaborative, team-oriented, and hardworking approach is required.
- Detail-oriented approach is optional.
