The General Accountant is responsible for managing the receiving function in a timely, smooth, and efficient manner.
The role supports compliance with hotel policies, procedures, standards, and quality requirements for procured goods.
Key responsibilities
- Review supplier invoices for originality, numbering, itemization, clear descriptions, and clerical accuracy.
- Acknowledge satisfactory deliveries with the hotel seal and signature.
- Review deviation reports and outstanding order reports according to hotel standards.
- Review outgoing records weekly for serial control and completeness.
- Identify outstanding outgoing records and highlight them to department heads.
- Maintain properly named, catalogued, and access-restricted filing systems.
- Inform the supervisor about unusual events and policy or procedure deviations.
- Manage book closing and prepare financial reports.
- Reconcile the general ledger, bank accounts, and profit and loss accounts.
- Analyze financial reports, identify trends, and make recommendations.
- Review receiving reports, invoices, expense reports, payment vouchers, and cashier reports.
- Supervise monthly payroll preparation and ensure timely salary disbursement.
Control and compliance expectations
- Financial documents must be authorized, accurate, free from material misstatements, and compliant with hotel policy.
- Internal financial and operational controls must function efficiently and safeguard hotel assets.
